Delphine Nekesa Naswa is a remarkable 15-year-old from Bungoma County in Kenya. She is currently in Form 2 (Tenth grade) at Afraha High School. She lived with her mother, a single parent who is physically handicapped and a parent of eight children, struggling to make ends meet as a daily wage laborer. Delphine is the seventh of eight siblings. They shared a single room, which was small but full of love. Dinner was often their only meal, sometimes a simple bowl of porridge.
She aspires to become a surgeon, to heal and mend lives in the future. When she is not immersed in her studies, Delphine finds solace in dancing. Her spirit comes alive as she moves to the rhythm, and it is a cherished escape from the trials of life.
At school, Delphine is a formidable force on the rugby field. She aims to join the national rugby team and represent her country with pride and strength.Â
Delphine’s spirit persevered in the face of adversity. She feels that receiving financial aid could be the start of a better life for her, her mother, and her siblings. Her education is her lifeline, her route to independence, and her future means of providing for her family.
Delphine’s story demonstrates the resilience of the human spirit, and she needs your help to open the door to a better future where she can support her family and pursue her dreams.
