In a tiny, dimly lit room in the slums of Checkpoint, a young girl named Pasilisa Nafula faced a world filled with harsh realities.Â
Pasilisa’s childhood was marred by the absence of her parents. They had succumbed to the grip of alcoholism, leaving her and her aging grandmother, Eveline, to fend for themselves. Pasilisa often went to sleep with an empty stomach. Many nights, the landlord’s wrath drove her and her grandmother into the chilling embrace of the open air.
Amid the relentless challenges, Pasilisa holds onto her dreams and her love for learning. She is in Grade 3 at Nakuru West Primary School. Her favorite subject is Mathematics. She aspires to become a teacher, not just for herself, but to reach out to others in her community and offer them the education they deserve. Pasilisa is a talented football player and hopes to represent her nation in football.
Amidst the shadow of adversity, Pasilisa refused to surrender to despair. She clung to the belief that education was her beacon of hope. Then, the opportunity to join IHF came her way—a chance to break free from the chains of her past and set out on the path to her dreams. With hope in their hearts, she and her grandmother embraced this opportunity, recognizing it as their only escape from the relentless hardships and a chance to rekindle her educational journey.
With IHF’s unwavering support, Pasilisa moves ahead on her quest to become a teacher, finding solace in playing football to escape the harsh realities that surrounded her. Your support isn’t just a gift; it’s a lifeline leading Pasilisa to a brighter future, promising the hope of a better tomorrow.
